country houses in Denmark
Modern thatched cabin with Nordic spirit - blending traditional European countryside architecture and modern minimalist design thinking.
Architectural Overview
The house is located in the middle of a gently sloping grassland, designed to blend into nature with a large sloping roof covered with natural straw - a traditional material that helps insulate and keep warm very well. The house block is in the form of a classic A-frame or gable roof, but is reinterpreted in a contemporary style: neat, balanced proportions, and especially using large glass doors across the entire facade to open up a wide, airy countryside view.
⸻
Materials and colors
The entire main structure is made of natural wood, which can be pine or light-colored oak. The exterior is treated with a light gray-brown dye to blend in with the color scheme of the landscape. The thick thatched roof covers the entire house, creating a soft, warm and friendly visual effect.
The interior is in a uniform light wood tone - beige - light brown, made entirely of wood to maintain absolute continuity and naturalness.
⸻
Space and light
The facade is a large, full-height glass wall, allowing for morning light and a view of the valley landscape. The attic space is arranged with two parallel beds facing the A-shaped glass window - creating a feeling of meditation, peace and poetry.
The main house is slightly raised, with an outdoor wooden porch to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset.
⸻
Spatial layout
• Ground floor: living room, dining table, open kitchen, overlooking the grassland.
• Attic: minimalist resting area with two beds, natural light and open view.
• Porch: outdoor wooden floor, can be used as a space to enjoy tea or watch the scenery.
⸻
Design inspiration
The house is reminiscent of Nordic cottages or Scandinavian wooden houses, which prioritize natural light, rustic materials and the connection between people and nature. Although simple, every detail is sophisticated: the window arrangement, wood color, roof slope and house direction are all aimed at optimizing the feeling of coziness and relaxation.

Application in Vietnam
This model can be completely developed into a resort villa or high-class homestay in Da Lat, Bao Loc or Mang Den, just need to:
• Keep the sloping roof and wooden porch intact.
• Replace the thatched roof with seam corrugated iron or imitation thatched shingle for more durability.
• Use low-e glass to adapt to hot and humid climate.
